D11

Day 11 4/2

  • Miles Traveled: 11.9 miles
  • Shelter: tent at Rock Gap shelter
  • High Point: Tie for Albert Mountain Fire Tower and passing 100 miles
  • Low Point: the mouse getting lost between our tent and rain fly and waking us up in the middle of the night

This morning was smooth and nice. Enjoyed coffee with a view. We moved towards Albert Mountain with excitement. The last half mile of Albert Mountain ascent was hot, technical and difficult.

But the pay off was WORTH IT. The views were amazing. We climbed the fire tower and enjoyed crystal clear sky and blue ridge mountains.

The decent from the mountain was dream. Rhododendron shaded paths with a perfectly soft grade. We passed the hundred mile marker and we celebrated.

The rest of the afternoon was an uneventful beautiful day. Excited for our next 100 miles.
